Internet speed test xfinity4/27/2024 ![]() Rise Broadband engineers are constantly at work to minimize any such issues.Ģ. In some instances, a large number of simultaneous users can stress network resources and cause some slowing of speeds. From a larger network view, Rise Broadband continuously monitors the network data demands and upgrades network resources (larger data pipes) to provide for the ever growing demand of Internet resources. Going from a 5 Mbps connection to a 10 Mbps connection will double the size of your hose. One way to resolve this issue is to upgrade to a faster connection to satisfy the needs of multiple users. ![]() For example, if multiple users are accessing the Internet at your location (home or business) all at once, then everyone is attempting to fill their data needs with the same hose. High network utilization either by multiple users on your own connection or heavy usage by subscribers in your local area can have an impact on your connection. Many other variable can impact the speed of your connection:ġ. Therefore, it is the most accurate representation of the connection quality Rise Broadband is providing. To best understand the speed of the connection you are getting from Rise Broadband, it is recommended you use the above speed test as it is testing your connection to the Internet and eliminates the many variable we do not have control over. With all of these variables, latency can vary dramatically from site to site you may visit. The combined latency is then the total latency you see included on the test above. Each step in the process adds some level of latency in milliseconds. ![]() The request is then processed and returns through the same route in reverse. For example, a data request may go from your computer through a WIFI device, to a router, to the radio transmitter, to a tower, to a fiber connection, to an Internet route, and to the receiving server. In a network, every piece of equipment data passes through creates some amount of latency. The higher the latency the longer the delay between request and response. Latency is measured in milliseconds (thousandths of a second). Latency is defined as how much time it takes for data packets to get from one location to another. ![]() Latency is another variable than can impact the responsiveness of your Internet connection. Streaming video players typically will load a buffer of data, or in other words, preload data so that the video will play more smoothly regardless of variation in connection speed. As you stream video your need for a continuous amount of high speed data connectivity goes up exponentially. An HD streaming video typically ranges between 2.5 Mbps to 4 Mbps. A typical video on a webpage may use about 1000 kilobits per second (or 1 Mbps). Once you start streaming video your need for speed increases. These are very small buckets and your Rise Broadband connection fills them in fractions of a second. The size of the average email is about 100 kilobits while the average webpage without video is about 200 kilobits. If you are loading a web page (the bucket), then the faster your connection (the pressure in the hose) the faster the page will load the required data to display the page (water filling the bucket). If you think about an Internet data connection in terms of a water hose, the more you turn up the spigot the more quickly water fills a bucket. A connection of 5 Mbps for example means the connection is passing 5000 kilobits (or 5 megabits) of data each second. Internet connection speed is defined by how much data is transmitted through an Internet connection each second.

77 useless websites4/27/2024 There are times when context really helps students to get a sense of the underlying mathematics, but there are also times when context can get in the way. Certainly, they have important applications to statistics, and elsewhere, but if you are dealing with the AM-GM inequality, for instance, there is no reason to think that the quantities being averaged must constitute some kind of 'realistic data set'. The arithmetic and geometric means (as well as the harmonic mean and other kinds of mean) are all essentially (and certainly were originally) pure mathematics concepts. ![]() In such a task, there is a purpose - something you want to find out from the data - and the focus becomes less on the nitty gritty of adding up and dividing and more on asking meaningful questions and using the mathematics to figure out meaningful answers (i.e., mathematical modelling).īut I don’t see that kind of work as an alternative to tasks like the ones above. This all seems very valuable to me, and I am all for students grappling with realistic, messy datasets, with all the opportunities they present for data cleaning, examining outliers and using descriptive statistics to get a handle on what’s going on. ![]() And would it really make sense to calculate summary statistics from data sets containing so few numbers? How meaningful is a median when there are just 5 data values altogether? People who object in this kind of way would be much happier if all of the data points had a couple of decimal places, and ideally would like us to have 500 data points, rather than 5, and handle them in a modern fashion using technology. Sometimes, teachers object that when you are calculating a mean of a real-life dataset the data points are very unlikely to be nice, neat positive integers. Write down 5 positive integers with a mean of 7 and a median of 4. Write down 5 positive integers with a mean of 7. If you are happy that you can have a number like 8, all on its own, which isn't a measure of anything in any particular unit, then it ought to be OK to have a length of 8 or an area of 8 too.Ī similar issue arises when people object to tasks like: The abstract concept of area can be used to solve real-world problems, like painting walls and laying carpets, but there is also just the abstract notion of area, which is measured in dimensionless numbers. Contexts are very important, as are the applications of mathematics, but I am not convinced that everything is always made clearer by setting it in context. The debate around units seems to be one where both sides think that the other side is demonstrating some kind of dangerous misconception. When we calculate the area enclosed between the curve $y=x^2$ and the curve $y=x(2-x)$, the answer is $\frac dx=45°,$$ which makes no sense at all! (How would you respond to the question: "When you do a definite trigonometric integral, should you give the answer in radians or degrees?") ![]() ![]() In pure mathematics, these things are dimensionless numbers. I am quite happy to have a line segment of length 4 or a rectangle of area of 8. “You can’t have an area of 8,” someone said – “it has to be 8 somethings, like 8 centimetres squared.” The whole question was completely unspecified – what on earth is a “4 by 2” rectangle – imagine going into a shop to buy a carpet that is “4 by 2” – without some units it is completely useless! Some of the teachers were complaining that the question was ‘wrong’, because the question writer had apparently ‘forgotten the units’! This was seen as ironic, because we are always telling students, “Don’t forget to include the units”, and yet here was a situation where this error had apparently been made in the writing of the question.

100 amp service panel wire size4/25/2024 To help you choose the correct gauge size, here are some general guidelines for sizing electrical wiring: You should use #1 AWG for direct burial, but never smaller than #2 for ground. Fortunately, there are a few easy ways to determine the right wire size for your situation. The question, what size aluminum wire for 100 amp service underground, may arise as a concern for some homeowners. What Size Aluminum Wire For 100 Amp Service Underground? If you’re going to install a high-voltage circuit, you should use no. 6 AWG aluminum wire will be good for up to 40 amps at 60 degrees Celsius. You need to choose the one that will best meet your needs and is compatible with your home’s wiring. The number of amps in the wire is not the same as the amperage. If you plan on connecting multiple units in a single building, you should choose a no. Regardless of the situation, choose the type of conductor that best meets your needs. While copper wire is generally better at handling electrical loads, aluminum is more lightweight and flexible. The conductor type used will determine what size wire you should use for a certain application. For safe performance, you should always use gauge 1 or smaller wire. Consumer Product Safety Commission states that aluminum wiring is more prone to fire risks, but it’s not unsafe per se. Copper wire is typically better for high-voltage applications, while aluminum wire is generally less conductive. When choosing wiring materials for an overhead power distribution system, a careful inspection is necessary to determine whether copper or aluminum is the right one for your application. What Size Aluminum Wire For 100 Amp Service Overhead? When choosing aluminum wire for your home, it’s important to choose a size that best matches the rest of your electrical wiring system. It also expands less at high temperatures, but is also heavier. This is because copper has a higher tensile strength and is resistant to breakage. If you are considering purchasing aluminum wiring, you should know that it’s more expensive than copper. Therefore, if you’re planning to buy aluminum wiring, you should stick to no. However, it is still worth noting that aluminum wires must be protected with antioxidants to prevent corrosion. Compared to copper wire, aluminum is less conductive than copper. In Canada, you can choose any size of aluminum wire that is adequate for your electrical wiring. ![]() Aluminium wire is safer than copper, but if you are still not sure, you can call an electrical contractor. In general, you should go with larger gauges if you are planning to expand your home. You need to remember that copper and aluminum wires differ in size, so you should check the recommendations before attempting to change your wiring. ![]() You can find a list of wire sizes in a number of places, but you will need to pay special attention to the sizes of the metal. If you’re unsure of what size aluminum wire to use for your service, consult your electrician.| This will prevent fires, but it also means you will have to use larger strands. Make sure you choose flame retardant insulation, too. For example, if your house has a 100 amp service, you can choose aluminum direct burial. When choosing an electrical wire, you should always choose a size that matches your circuit. I shared this tip in the August 2019 Productivity Tips webinar, but wanted to expand on the feature here in the blog. But rather than re-create the layout of your meeting notes each and every time, did you know that you can insert a quick and easy format for notes using OneNote templates? The benefits of using a template are that it creates consistency, supports teaM and company branding, and makes it easy to convey other essential, repeated information (spaces for project names and owners, resource links, and other key metadata). If you’re like me, when I’ve created a format for meeting notes, I’ll often cut-and-paste that notebook layout between projects. With most of my clients, all meeting notes are captured and shared in a uniform manner, allowing stakeholders to quickly review and act upon those shared notes. Whether creating new notebooks with every Microsoft Team, or leveraging individual or shared notebooks for Outlook-based meetings, OneNote usage is growing. Organizations are increasingly using OneNote as a shared note taking resource for meetings and team-based collaboration. ![]() As with many of the other core Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, etc) there is a tremendous depth to the product, and I am continually finding new features and ways to use it. One of the (many) things Microsoft got right with the launch of Microsoft Teams was to incorporate OneNote into the platform on Day 1, IMHO. You could say that I am officially a #fanboy of the product. I discovered OneNote back in 2004, and it has been my primary content creation tool ever since.

For example, many people will buy the groceries they need and when there is $200 extra in that envelope, they will spend all of the extra money that is in that envelope because it is there, even when they don’t need to. While this might help if you really have no self-control with regard to your spending, it can cause other problems. For example, some people use an envelope system and keep food money in one envelope, car repair money in another envelope and so on. ![]() Most budget systems fail because people are too rigid with them. For this reason, our expenses are always a lot less than our income. Over the years, I trained myself to spend less whenever possible even if we could afford to spend more. I am sharing this sample family budget with you so you can see how to keep track of your spending and plan ahead so you don’t spend too much, but I don’t actually use a budget anymore. Thinking of ways to increase your income is equally as important. Cutting wasteful spending that is not leading you to where you want to be financially is important, but even if you’re very frugal, there is only so much you can cut. You will just have to decide which items are really needs and which ones are just wants.Īs you move forward, it is also helpful to consider how you can increase your income, not just cut your expenses. If you have a very low income, you must still be able to fit all of your expenses within the income that you have. If you have an emergency of some kind come up and then the next month another unexpected cost comes up, consider adding a budget item for unexpected expenses since you can predict that something unexpected usually comes up. If car repairs are always higher than your budget, adjust the budget to compensate. On the other hand, if an expense is consistently higher than you budgeted, adjust the budget to account for that. Instead, save the extra money you didn’t spend and consider changing the budget later to be more realistic. ![]() If you realize you can spend less on groceries, don’t feel like you have to spend what you budgeted. Often times someone will budget a large amount for something, like $800 a month for groceries, when they really don’t need that much. Think of budgeting as a loose plan and be prepared to re-evaluate it every so often. Our Favorite Christian Resources – Bible Translations, Christian Speakers And More!.

Buy potent silvadene cream otc4/25/2024 However, if individual patient requirements make dressings necessary, they may be used. Administration may be accomplished in minimal time because dressings are not required. Whenever necessary, the cream should be reapplied to any areas from which it has been removed by patient activity. The cream should be applied once to twice daily to a thickness of approximately 1/16 inch. The burn areas should be covered with SILVADENE Cream 1% at all times. The burn wounds are then cleansed and debrided, and SILVADENE Cream 1% (silver sulfadiazine) is applied under sterile conditions. Prompt institution of appropriate regimens for care of the burned patient is of prime importance and includes the control of shock and pain. However, reduction in bacterial colonization has caused delayed separation, in some cases necessitating escharotomy in order to prevent contracture. Reduction in bacterial growth after application of topical antibacterial agents has been reported to permit spontaneous healing of deep partial-thickness burns by preventing conversion of the partial thickness to full thickness by sepsis. Other infrequently occurring events include skin necrosis, erythema multiforme, skin discoloration, burning sensation, rashes, and interstitial nephritis. An increased incidence of leukopenia has been reported in patients treated concurrently with cimetidine. Recovery is not influenced by continuation of silver sulfadiazine therapy. Building office inside warehouse4/24/2024 Young professionals love loft-style offices. Here are six ways office tenants can build out the space they desire without going over time and budget. Identifying these challenges upfront can help prevent a new office from becoming a burden. When looking to move into a raw space like a warehouse, tenants must be prepared, from a budget and time perspective, for the amount of work the build-out requires. “If you are used to a traditional leasing process where you move in and are provided a lot of landlord-provided accommodations, in the West Loop you will likely have more upfront costs for what you would otherwise be provided.” “They are going to have a lot more upfront mechanical, engineering and plumbing costs, buildings might not be set up to accommodate the businesses that the tenant wants to use the building for,” Bukowski said. For office tenants accustomed to the Class-A, turnkey experience of leasing space in Chicago’s central business district, the process of an interior build-out in the West Loop could come as a shock, Skender Project Executive Brian Bukowski said. ![]() ![]() Recently, the West Loop has also become an attractive destination for large companies like Google and Sara Lee, as well as small startups and artists.īut the raw, brick exteriors and loft-like floor plans companies flock to come with their own set of challenges. Over the past 20 years, the neighborhood’s low-rise warehouses have become the home of trendy restaurants and a mecca for nightlife in the Windy City. Gestalts principles of similarity4/24/2024 ![]() What Does Closure Mean in Graphic Design? In this article, we will first introduce you to the Gestalt Principle of Closure, where we will help you understand what it is and how to use it. Once you start having a solid grasp of these theories, you can create more coherent images that better connect you with your viewers, users, and audience. That is why as a designer, it is crucial to learn about each of these principles, what they entail, and what they can mean for your designs. Today, these Gestalt Principles form the foundation of many of the design rules that we follow. The goal of these theories was to take a more in-depth look into the brain and show how people perceived the environment around them. (And why 3-column designs are all the rage.) Studies have also shown that our standard for “beauty” in faces depends largely on symmetry. The Gestalt Principles, which are a series of theories based on the idea of visual perception, were developed in the 1920s by a group of psychologists in Germany. That’s probably why symmetry proves so popular in governmental buildings throughout the world. That’s why symmetry is so satisfying to us: it’s a simple, harmonious rule that conveys a sense of order and rightness in things. It should come as no surprise that people tend to look for order in objects, and symmetry is one means of doing that. The Gestalt principle of symmetry is when people perceive symmetrical elements as part of a unified group. Dramatic whitespace, like when you place a focal point in total isolation from other elementsĪnd so much more.Typographic emphasis, like bolding, italics, all caps, etc.Dramatic size changes, such as a hero headline set at 72pt.Dramatic color changes, such as when a CTA button or other link is given a highly contrasting color.Of course, there are all kinds of ways to create emphasis in a design, including: But that centrality makes it all the more important to intelligently and purposefully apply emphasis and difference - after all, as the saying goes, “if everything’s emphasized, nothing is.” Focal pointsįocal points are points of interest, emphasis, or difference capture and hold our attention.įocal points serve as the key to so many elements of web design that it almost feels odd to point it out. These parallel lines create tension with the otherwise scattered text, but also create relief by momentarily restoring a normal reading experience to the dynamic composition. Lines of parallel text help us make sense of this complex tangle of letters.Īmidst this chaotic jumble of text, Marinetti offers occasional breathers of (relative) clarity and relatedness by setting a few lines of type parallel to each other. The text “Headlines” is clearly related to all the content in the card below - even though it’s not enclosed within the card. Objects that are close together are seen as related, while objects that are far apart … aren’t.įor example, check out Google’s News site, below. The Gestalt principle of proximity is when we see objects that are close to each other as more related than objects that are far apart. Now that you have a general idea of the seven Gestalt principles of design, let’s take a deeper dive into each one. There are seven Gestalt web design principles: ![]() You can try to see the more complex arrangement, but it takes more effort - your eyes just want to return to the simpler pattern. ![]() As per the Law of Prägnanz, we see the Olympic logo as interlocking rings, instead of a bunch of meaningless, complex shapes. |
