F1 2020 controller settings reddit4/23/2024 ![]() Arguments aside, if you have the skill with either one, you will be able to win races. ![]() However, if you learn to use a sim racing wheel, and put in the time and effort, you can also get to a very high level. With lots of practice, you will be able to take on any sim racing game you come across with ease, battling with the very best using sim rigs. If you have been playing on controllers all your life, you are probably going to find that much easier to use than a wheel. It all comes down to the skill level of the person playing. ![]() In fact, in many cases those using controllers may find an advantage over those on wheels. However, this doesn’t mean that you can’t be a fast sim racer if you don’t use a wheel. While the controller is cheaper and easier to use than a wheel, the latter provides the realism that most high-level sim racers expect to use. But the debate around which is faster is still common, regardless of realism. While the controller is what comes first for many, wheels and pedals are natural upgrade paths for those that want to experience more realism. My racing was more feeling like racing and using complex technique was real challenging and hard in the beginning to adapt(everyone who has some affinity with racing will get under control quick) a had more satisfaction while i was racing.Īlso try to get in to setup tweaking and understanding what does what with the car.Within the world of sim racing, there has long been a debate about whether to use a controller or a wheel. So i use(d) my PS4(PS3 in the past) controller and i have to say he was right. Now i race a long time on cockpit view.įor a short time i used steer -and brake assist but quickly find out that was more a disruption than an assist. In the early days i used 3rd person view far, then a bit closer(cockpit view in the days where not that very clear) even went to front wing view or nose to searching the tension of the race. Better a good racing setup from the time you make one. I still don't have a steer wheel setup yet on my PC, that is for later when one of the bedrooms come free. An experienced f1 gamer where i competed with once online advised me to drop the TC(Traction Control) and that was my biggest change and progress in my driving evolution, experience. Now i play level 92, only ABS, cockpit view further no assists at all. I evolved in more than a decade of f1 gaming. It's a constant adjustment that I'm no where close to being at 0 assists but the journey there is a lot of fun - at least the difficulty/challenge is also adjustable along the way too.Īs is tradition with all racing games I've ever played, furthest possible camera angle for me. No matter what, the best thing to do is take each track one by one, grind out time trial lap after lap tweaking your set up and assists to see what works best. Manual transmission is helpful as well - learn the tracks from guides/youtube if you want and get used to it, it's more fun and helps control you around the track a lot better. Most people are ok w brake assist off, ABS still on after a while. Brake assist to Med or Low early on as well, it's not too hard to adjust to these. The problem is, the next step down is off - I kinda wish there was a "low" setting. Turn TCS to Medium - if you've played a racing game before, you don't need it any higher.
